Arsenal Transfer Rumour XI – A Team Worthy Of Winning The Premier League?

So far this summer, Arsenal have been left behind by their Premier League rivals in the transfer market.

Man United have spent £61.8m, Liverpool's outlay has come to £39m, Chelsea have forked out £59m and Man City's capture of Fernando saw them spend £12m.

Arsenal's bank balance is still looking mightily healthy to the annoyance of most Gooners, but could that be about to change?

Reports in Spain claim the club will make a formal offer to Espanyol for their 27-year-old goalie Kiko Casilla having monitored him for the past year. Competition for Wojciech Szczesny is needed following the departure of Lukasz Fabianski to Swansea.

Following the departure of Bacary Sagna to Man City, a right-back is needed to compete with Carl Jenkinson. Ivory Coast and Toulouse defender Serge Aurier has been linked with a move, although Spurs are also interested in the player. However, the deal for Newcastle's Mathieu Debuchy is close.

It looks like Mikel Arteta will have a reduced role, with Arsenal keen on both Southampton's Morgan Schneiderlin and Real Madrid's Sami Khedira, a close friend of Mesut Ozil. The club are actually blessed with midfielders and have Mathieu Flamini to call upon, too.

Spanish-based journalist Graham Hunter believes Barca forward Alexis Sanchez's next destination is likely to be the Emirates. In fact, it is rumoured manager Arsene Wenger will pull off a £35m deal that will see Sanchez and Debuchy join from their respective clubs.

Up front, a host of strikers have been linked to the club. Mario Balotelli is the name most talked about and Milan president Silvio Berlusconi claimed his club are in talks with a Premier League side. In other gossip, talkSPORT Drive presenter Adrian Durham was told that as a result of Italy's poor showing at the World Cup, Arsenal offered Milan just £10m for the striker.
