Manchester United and Tottenham have been put on red alert after the agent of Colombian star James Rodriguez stated he is keeping his options open over a big summer move.
The Monaco winger has lit up the World Cup for his country and played a major role in helping the South American side reach the knockout stages of the competition.
The 22-year-old has already been strongly linked with a move to Napoli with reports in Italy suggesting that a deal was close to being finalised.
But both Louis van Gaal and Mauricio Pochettino are ready to step up their interest in the Monaco player after his agent Aytekin Erayabakan confirmed Rodriguez is yet to make a decision on where he will be playing next season.
Erayabakan, speaking on Italian website AreaNapoli, said: “I can confirm that I have spoken with Napoli.
“(Aurelio) De Laurentiis is a great person and one of the best Presidents I have ever seen. But the Neapolitans are not the only ones that are following Rodriguez. Let’s see what the future holds.
“There are several European clubs after him, but it’s best not to say anything at the moment.
“How much will he cost? I don’t know. But what I can say is that his price has increased after the way he’s played these past few months.
